Your Two Cents: Best Actor/Actress in Korea???

Let's shift our focus from the music realm in Korea, and take a look at the acting realm.

C'mon, let's be real. There are certain actors/actresses that aren't all that good at their craft compared to other actors/actresses. However, they're so good looking that they still get cast for major parts anyway.

From your experience of watching Korean dramas or movies, which actor/actress do you think is the best at their job? If that's too difficult, which actor/actress do you think is horrible at their job?

Answer away and don't forget to tune into KPI next week to hear all of the interesting responses!!

  1. Hi Angie!

This is a tough question to answer, as I think that every actor/actress has their own uniqueness in the roles that they play in dramas/movies. But if I really had to pick an actor I would say Lee Junki. His role in "Time Between Dog and Wolf" totally made me fall head over heels not because of his good looks but his ability to show all the emotions that was required in the storyline. It felt so real that at times I didn't even think he was acting. It was like a real life story being captured.

As for actresses, I have to give a round of applause to Kim Tae Hee in her recent work with Song Seung Heon in "My Princess". I think she improved a lot compared to the other roles that she played in her previous dramas. Although she might not be considered the best actress out there, I still think she deserves the recognition for her hard work that she has put in and I can't wait to see what other roles she is planning to play in the future.

What about you Angie? What do you think?

  2. Hi Angie,
Can I be greedy and nominate two names per category?

I can't decide between Sol Kyung-gu ( of Oasis, Silmido and Haeundae fame) and Kim Myung-min
( from Beethoven Virus and Closer To Heaven).

As for the ladies, Jeon Do-yeon has been a long-time favourite. Loved her in dramas like Shoot for The Stars and Lovers In Prague but she was also heartbreaking in movies like You Are My Sunshine and Secret Sunshine.

Ha Ji-won is another actress I've liked for a long time since Memories of Bali. But she really shone as Hwangjinyi. Haven't seen her in Secret Garden, though.

    Regards,
    Selene

  3. Hi angie :)

    Wow, i like this question...

Well I’m kind of in addiction with k-drama.... and I have watched a lot of drama’s.... Through my observation I think for an actor.....

    # Kwon sang woo ... I think he is very talented because of the different roles he had play .for example: sad love story and into the fire these two characters which he play's is totally different and that really show how talented is he.

    For an actress...

    # Lee Yoon Ji... Maybe she didn’t act a lot but she show's a lot of potential when she act's ... she act in dream high so great she was very witty and funny... On the other hand she act in a historical drama (Dae Wang Sejong) and she was great

ps. i really would like to be like kwon sang woo on sad love story "very sensitive and romantic which all the girls like" ..... Because my all of my friends called me (heartless man) which is very mean :(

    (lol)

    Have a great week noona

  4. Hey Angie,

    I really like this week's question ^^
    My favorite Korean actors/actresses:

Cha Tae Hyun: He's able to do drama, comedy, anything. He's the best.

Jung Woo Sung: Everything he does is romantic and emotional. Sophie's jealous of him. ^^

Jeon Ji Hyun: All of her movies are sooooo good. I even liked Blood:The Last Vampire, except the special effects.

There are so many good actors/actresses in Korea, but these are my favorites ^^

    Thanks and God Bless,

    Paul T.

  5. This Y2C question, is offically awesome! I get to talk about how cool my favorite actors are and people will actually know what i'm talking about!

Personally, i LOVE Lee Jun Ki! I've seen him in Fly Daddy Fly, The King and the Clown, and i'm currently making my way through Iljimae <3
So far, everything he's been in, I've loved!
And what's really cool about him is that he doesn't just act. He sings fabulously, and he dances too! Is there anything this man can't do??? Can't wait for him to come back from the Military!!!

And even though some people might say he's not that great, i love Rain's movies. I'm actually more familiar with him as an actor than as a musician XP I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK is one of my FAVORITE movies, and seeing him yodel in that movie makes me laugh every time. Plus, anybody seen Ninja Assassin? It's anhour and a half of Rain being shirtless and kicking the snot out of a ton of ninjas! How is that NOT cool?

And for actresses, i like Yoon Eun Hye <3 Coffee Prince was my first Kdrama, so she's always had a special place in my little fangirl heart. I love how she was able to pull off the "I'm a girl pretending to be a guy and i love you but you annoy the crap out of me" role. Trust me, it's harder than it sounds.

Sorry for the rant XP i don't get to talk about my fave actor very much 'cause my friends only know the music.
