  1. Hi Angie,

Here is my answers to your question.

Question :What was the FIRST Kpop song you were introduced to??? And by who??

I've learn about Korean Music long time ago but were not that active in listening to it because at that time I do not have any internet access at home and also didn't know any site to find/listen to Korean Music.

The first Kpop song that I knew were Boa - No. 1, Jo Sung Mo - Piano, Lee Ki Chan - A Cold and Buhwal - Never ending story. I knew the song from a TV show program called "Pops in Seoul". I would Record any of the song that I like just to have a chance to listen to it another time.

That's how I became a fan of Kpop and Thanks to KBS World that now I can listen to Korean Song 24/7.

  2. Hi there Angie,

The first Kpop song I heard was Rising Sun by Dong Bang Shin Ki. My sister introduced the song to me. At that time, I was clueless about Kpop.My sister was already into the whole hallyu wave back then. It was also around then that DBSK was having their 'Rising Sun' world tour and Malaysia was one of their stops! So, the song Rising Sun was a hit on airplays then. The more I listened to the song, the more curious I became of Kpop. So, from then on I discovered other songs from DBSK as well as other artists like Rain, Se7en, and Shinhwa.
Now, after KBS World has been broadcasted in Malaysia, I am an even bigger fan of Kpop and Kdrama too! I especially enjoy watching Music Bank!

It's a cutish pop song, and the song is very good to hear. I think, Many people in Indonesia like that song. Because, I often heard the song as ringing mobile phone of peoples who I met.
In my town also many Radio stations have a korean songs music programs. So I accidentally know kpop song from it. And after I was be a listener of kbs world radio..woww..I got know more kpop, Now I have a lot of kpop song collection. I love kpop song, eventhough I didn't understand what the lyrics..but I really like to listen the beat.

  4. Hi there,
Can't remember exactly which was the first song I liked but I just happened to stumble onto KBS Radio way WAY back in 2003 while doing some work on the net. Either g.o.d.'s "Ordinary Day" or Wheesung's "With Me" was the first to make an impression. Great music to listen to while doing research on the net.
Wanted to check the playlist to confirm which came out first but it's not on your website anymore - that shows how long ago it was!
Kpop Connection's been a great companion since then! Nice work on the blog!
    Cheers,

  7. Hi, Angie,
I'm so proud of you. The first K-pop song I heard was 님과 함께...or With My Love. I think I danced to the tune in front of my family when I was about 5. Hahahah. The first K-pop song I had a very strong crush on was To You 그대에게 by 무한궤도 in which Shin Hye-cheol was a vocal. The band was so cool and the song was about a secret dream which I had at the tender age of 18. Hahahah.

  8. Hi

I was looking for a "Korean language" station and program but found KBS & KPI in English instead!!! I listened to a couple of - then - recent shows of KPI in early December 2006 and that's how I knew KPOP!

I don't remember what song was the first one I heard. But one song I remember I liked was "I Cry" by "Lee Seung-Chul"

You're doing pretty well for a new blogger, Angie! Well Done! ;-)

  9. My first Kpop song was "When I Need You" by H.O.T. My classmate at that time (it was in 1998) was singing it for her final for our choir class. I asked her about it and she lend me the album.

  11. I can't really remember the first Korean song I heard, but the one that I remember most from the beginning of my love towards Korean music was "낙원(PARADISE)" by DBSK. I heard it somewhere on YouTube and I got hooked. It was a great transition from the R&B music I was used to listening to because it was so similar. From there I ventured to Big Bang, Boa, Bi/Rain, and so many more. My family thought listening to music I couldn't understand was a bit ridiculous, but after a while I got them hooked KPOP too :D

  18. My first song was probably a BoA song. I'm not sure if it was Girls on Top specifically, but it probably was. Up until last year, my whole life was anime and japanese music. I heard BoA through anime like InuYasha and really liked her. I didn't know what language Girls on Top was for awhile. I just knew it was a hot dance song, and that it wasn't japanese.

Now it has all changed. Since February of 2009, I am a complete Kpop fanatic. For years, my friends and I host japanese dances here in our small town in Nova Scotia, and we got requests for some korean songs. We played them, loved them, then started looking up MVs, variety shows, etc. Anything with K-idols in them.

What got me hooked was Super Junior! Started out from Don't Don, but Sorry, Sorry really got me hooked. I know that is a typical answer for most, but I love them. And I've been listening to Kpop music, watching K-dramas and movies, ever since!

One year later and it's still going strong!
